Do you know for certain that you will go to Heaven when you die? God's Word gives us a clear answer.
The Bible tells us that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's standard. No one is good enough on their own to earn Heaven.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Romans 3:23 (KJV)Sin is anything we think, say, or do that falls short of God's perfect standard. Every one of us is guilty.
Because God is perfectly holy and just, sin must be punished. The penalty for sin is death — separation from God forever.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23 (KJV)But notice — while sin earns death, eternal life is a gift from God. You cannot earn it. You cannot work for it. It must be received.
God loves you so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place. Jesus took the punishment that you and I deserve.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8 (KJV)Jesus was buried, and on the third day He rose from the dead, proving He had conquered sin and death. He is alive today.
Salvation is not automatic. You must personally receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour by faith. God promises that everyone who calls on Him will be saved.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:9 (KJV)"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:13 (KJV)The word whosoever means anyone — including you. Right now, wherever you are, you can trust Jesus Christ to save you.
If you understand that you are a sinner, that Jesus died for you, and you want to receive Him as your Saviour, you can pray something like this from your heart:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and deserve to go to Hell. I believe that you died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for my sins. Right now I am trusting you alone to save me and take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me. Amen."
